Eric Blumhagen

I have been involved in the Seattle Public School District for more than a decade. I’m running for School Board to put that experience to work for Seattle's students, parents, and schools. As an engineer, I understand the need for precision, numbers, data and analysis to inform decisions. With a passion for public education, I have worked to raise awareness and increase transparency with in the district. I believe that sharing information builds trust in the community. And I believe that putting these principles to work will help all students succeed.

The Seattle times endorses eric blumhagen for school board!

By The Seattle Times Editorial Board, September 29, 2019

“[Eric's] laser focus on outcomes would bring new
urgency to issues of equity, including disproportionate
discipline, and special education services."

“Minority youth from Community Passageways invited several candidates for various positions to come to City Hall and answer their questions face to face… The goal of Thursday’s forum was to see how candidates would handle issues that are directly affecting youth and people they are trying to represent”

Candidates in attendance at the forum were ‘graded’ on their answers to the questions throughout the evening. By the end of the night, Eric ended up with the overall top score in his race for Position 1, and the top marks of any candidate in the areas of Racial Equity and Educational and Employment Opportunities.
